it
was in august when i came first to the united states of america. I was pretty excited about it and couldn't wait to leave
germany.on august the 3rd, at the JFK, the plane finally landed and right outside those glassy dorrs would wait the world
i was waiting for so long.
after
spending 3 nights in new york, visiting Manhattan and new jersey's six flags park, climbing up the empire state building and
saying good bye to my best friends, i got in the plane and flew to nantucket, massachusetts. My host family has the prettiest
summerhouse you can ever imagine in the little town sconset. I've never seen a town like that.a little shop and a post office
where located on the "main drag" in siasconset. Nantucket has a population of approximately 10,000 +50,000 in the summer.
Even John kerry and Ralph lauren have a house up there. The beach is terrific and the atlantic cool and salty.
totally different from nantucket
is austin. when i left the plane i thought i just ran into a wall. the heat was unusual for... and i thought i landed
in hell ( about 110 degrees...).My hostfamily lives in Tarrytown in a beautiful house. my feelings that i had at this
moment...undescribable.
the next days, even though
me and mel discussed my choice of school in nantucket, we visited austin high school and McCallum. The first thing we
did in both school was to find the girls soccer coach. coach telley seemed strange to me the first time i saw her...not mean
but i knew she will let us work really hard. at McCallum we couldnt even find teachers, and my choice was settled. Austin
high school has more students than my hometown has habitants, but i didnt really care. I was glad to be in such an awesome
school and to play soccer again, after a 3 years break.
the first day in school i
already offended against the dress code. NO tank tops, NO flip flops, NO spaghetti tops.....how was i supposed to know that
you have to waer a sweater when it is sizzling hot outside and you turn black after 5 minutes.
days and days passed by,
you have the same classes every day...drivers ed, humanities with rockin mr. reed, algebra, us history, photography, english
and when its hot as hell soccer outside, running and running and running.
month per month passed by
and i had a lot of trips with my family to jacksonhole, wyoming where we went white water rafting and extreme trail riding
on 8000 feet mountains on a two feet wide trail.also we went to carmel, california and drove on highway #1, which is
probably the most gorgeous highway in the whole united states.
to be continued......
